Beware of Non-FSD Rangemaster
25/01/10
On 1st January Rangemaster ceased supplying
their dual fuel or gas range cookers without flame
supervision devices (FSD), which will become
mandatory on all gas appliances in March 2010.
Despite this, many retailers continue to sell their
stock of obsolete non-FSD models, or fail to
acknowledge this aspect of the products they are
selling. Buying your Rangemaster range cooker
from Rangecookers.co.uk means you can be confident
that you will receive only the very latest model,
complete with the new FSD feature. We
recommend that you check that the Rangemaster
products you may see on sale elsewhere are compliant
with this latest technology, so that you know you are
comparing like-for-like and will be getting a current
cooker ...

Cannon Convert to FSD
11/09/09
Cannon range cookers are an understandably
popular choice, and it seems they are ahead of the
game in changing over all of their ranges and
freestanding cookers to include Flame Supervision
Devices (FSD) as standard, and should have completed
the process by August. FSD are currently required by
law only if you live in a shared building, but by
March 2010 will be a requirement for all UK gas
appliances. Many brands currently offer FSD as an
optional upgrade, but all are likely to include them
as standard before January 2010, with a consequential
effect on pricing.

Following
Leisure’s recent warning about their models with gas
grills, UK brand Belling have drawn attention to a

Leisure Gas Grills - Safety Notice
08/05/09
A
safety issue concerning Leisure double cavity gas
range cookers has been announced by manufacturer BEKO
plc. Closed door grilling on the products concerned
can produce dangerously high levels of carbon
monoxide, and although the manufacturers instructions
explicitly state not to operate the grill in this way
and the products meet with BS EN30 Safety Standards,
BEKO have taken the positive step of notifying
customers and arranging for an engineer to visit and
remove this risk free of charge. We are consequently
arranging for all of our customers to be contacted,
and in the meantime advise that you DO NOT under any
circumstances use the grill with the door closed

Gas Safe Register Replaces Corgi
22/04/09
Most
people will be familiar with Corgi as the standard by
which gas engineers measure themselves, and will know
that “Are you Corgi-registered” is the question to
ask. However, from 1 April 2009 Corgi are no longer
performing this role, which has been taken up by the
Gas Safe Register, which aims to champion the cause
of gas safety in the UK which, in their opinion, is
too much taken for granted. In short, NEVER DIY when
it comes to gas - even an apparently simple job of
connecting a gas hose to a bayonet fitting should be
done by a professional who can check for leaks. Look
for the distinctive yellow logo to ensure you are
getting the best service from a fully trained
engineer.
