Installation guide

We can arrange for your range to be connected when it is delivered by the manufacturer, provided that the electrical or gas point is already in situ and of Corgi-standard (as shown on diagram below). This does NOT include moving of pipes or wires, and fees are NOT REFUNDABLE in the event of non-connection.

Should you be in any doubt it will be better to arrange for a local fitter who can provide a more comprehensive service. You can find one at www.trustcorgi.com.

Please note: connection services are for range cookers ONLY, not hoods.

Availability and Prices

See the Delivery details section on this menu for further details of specific brands.

General Guidance
Connection can only be made to a supply which is sufficient for the appliance. In all cases installation position must be approved by the engineer in situ.

Adequate ventilation in the room is required. Proximity of surrounding and overhanging cupboards should be taken into consideration.

Allowance should be made for suitability in regard to side walls, especially where side opening appliances are to be installed.

All connection points must accessible for servicing.

Disconnection of your old appliance will only be done provided the engineer on site agrees that your current connection is to Corgi standards.

Gas and dual fuel range cookers

Connection can only be made to a suitable gas point. This requires a bayonet fitting on a fixed pipe (ensure this is securely anchored/strapped to the wall). The engineer will supply a flexible hose for connecting the range together with safety chain or stability bracket as required.

Under no circumstances will the engineer undertake extra pipe work.

A suitable connection point is needed. In most cases this requires connection via a 6mm heat resistant flex to a 30Amp double pole switch. The switch must be easily accessible

Electric range cookers

A suitable connection point is needed. In most cases this requires connection via a 10mm heat resistant flex to a 45Amp double pole switch. The switch must be easily accessible.

Corgi advice on positioning

Although positioning advice will vary between different manufacturers, the diagram below represents the guidance given by Corgi.

Positioning into corners
When positioning a range into a corner, remember to allow enough space for the doors to fully open.

Multi dwelling buildings and flame failure devices

A flame supervision device (FSD) or flame failure device (FFD) is part of the gas burner system that detects if the flame is extinguished, and if so, cuts off the gas supply automatically.

New Corgi regulations state that all gas cooking devices fitted in multi-dwelling buildings and flats cannot be installed unless fitted with such a device. For more information on the regulations visit www.trustcorgi.com or speak to your local Corgi engineer.

What is a FSD (flame supervision device)?
FSD systems detect if the flame is extinguished and cuts off the gas supply automatically.

Do all cookers have FSD?
Typically no, with the exception of some of the more expensive or continental products.

Can my existing range cooker be upgraded?
No, FSD systems can only be added at factory build on new models.

Am I obliged to have FSD on my new cooker?
Yes, if your property is a flat or part of a muti dwelling building, including dual-purpose properties such as flats above shops

What is excluded from the above new regulations?
Commercial use only properties; detached, semi-detached, terraced houses; houses with loft conversions.

When did the new Corgi regulations take effect?
The regulation was introduced 1st January 2008.

Do I need a FSD system if I live in Ireland?
Yes, all gas models within Ireland need to be fitted with FSD.

Do I need an FSD system if I live in Europe?
Most EC countries require a FSD system on gas appliances. Check with your engineer.

How do I check if a cooker has an FSD?
Our product specifications will include a reference to FSD under the 'General' section.

Which models have FSD?
Below is a list of all range cooker models which have FSDs/FFDs as standard.
