When White is Right

The current desire for high-gloss and dark wood-grain kitchens has led to a resurgence of the popularity of white range cookers, as many people love the contrast and the visual statement that white makes. Others with more traditional tastes just love the purity of white in the context of an oak kitchen. Fortunately there is a good selection of ranges to choose from, and whether your needs are for a traditional or a contemporary feel there should be a range cooker to suit your kitchen perfectly.

Market-leading brand Rangemaster is a good place to start, with white ranges in three styles and a variety of fuels, from the straightforward Kitchener 90 and Kitchener 110 (in Ivory), to the very traditional Classic 90 and Classic 110 in White (with hotplate and control panel in Black, with chrome or brass trim) or, for the real purist, All White with chrome. Their more contemporary Excel 110 model is available in Ivory, a slightly off-white which looks equally stunning.

Taking a step up the price range, Falcon offer all of their 900 and 1092 models in Ice White, with attractive satin chrome handles and control surrounds, with matching hoods in traditional or contemporary style. The well-priced Falcon 1092 Continental is particularly attractive, and their most popular model, the Falcon 1092 Deluxe, also sells very well in its crisp Ice White form.

Stoves range cookers also cater for the growing interest in white by including Coconut in their range of “Flavours” colours, and their Richmond range is available in 55cm form (the 550E Mini Range) or the full-size 110cm Richmond 1100DF dual fuel range. The highly appealing and very contemporary Sterling 1100DF also looks really stunning in its white livery.

Britannia have also acknowledged the current trend and have produced a special white model in the form of their rather nice Britannia Sigma Editions 100.

Not quite pure white, but worth including is the Mercury RC1090, a very special range cooker in Travertine.

Prestigious Italian brand Bertazzoni include white in their assertive colour palette, and offer it on their X36 6 MFE, X36 Induction MFE and X48 6G MFE range cookers.

So, you should not be short of choice if you do decide that white is right for you new kitchen, and the ability to work as either a traditional or a contemporary finish makes white a good choice which will look right for many years to come.
