Stoves Community Kitchens - Help for Deserving Projects

Range cooker brand Stoves has been inundated with entries for its recently launched "Community Kitchen" funding project which aims to help deserving local projects transform their cooking and kitchen facilities.

Stoves Community Kitchen Shortlist

The judges face the challenging job of deciding who will benefit from the fund

Difficult Task

In just the first wave of applications Stoves were faced with 230 nominations from across the country for the £20,000 Stoves Community campaign giving the judges, including industry experts and representatives from Stoves’ parent Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, quite a task in whittling down the full entry list to a deserving shortlist. This includes hostels and refuges for the homeless, asylum seekers and victims of abuse, as well as an organisation that reduces loneliness for the elderly; a range of community food education projects and parent accommodation for the families of sick and premature babies.

Once the process is complete bronze, silver and gold prize packages, worth between £2,000 and £5,000 will then be awarded to the winning projects.

Jonathan Casley, Managing Director of Stoves’ parent company Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, said: “Preparing and sharing food brings people together so a kitchen is often an important part of a community space however, they can be expensive to set up and maintain. Community Kitchens was designed to help these projects and we were overwhelmed with excellent entries. This campaign highlights just how much amazing community based work goes on to help vulnerable, marginalised and less-well off groups of people across the UK. Reading all those applications to select the shortlist was really difficult and we hope everyone will now get behind them to vote. We are also looking forward to re-opening nominations later in the year to see who we can help next time around.”
